For those readers who aren't familiar with you and your
music, tell us a little about yourselves and your sound.
We wouldn’t want to be the one to label ourselves but we’d probably fall somewhere under the category of alternative rock however we have deep influences in post-punk.

Which musicians have influenced you, both as a band and your personal
tastes.
Well my main influences as a songwriter are definitely among the likes of Ian Curtis and Robert Smith. However regarding guitar I’d probably say Peter Doherty careless style resonates most with me. James’ drumming is heavily influences by by John Bonham. For Andrew, similar to myself, his influences are among the likes of Peter Hook and Ian Curtis although he is admittedly influenced by John Entwistle. However as a band we’re most heavily influenced by Joy Division, The Smiths and The Libertines.
Jack replied “Jarvis fucking Cocker”

TRIP SWITCH AT THEIR DEBUT GIG AT NOUVEAU GIGS 30/6/16
Which of your tracks is your favourite to play live?
'Everything' - it's our jam song. I don't think it's ever sounded the same twice..
So you're a relatively new band, have you found anything difficult or
challenging?
Hardest thing is getting the singer to turn up on time.. Despite that we have a
few gigs lined up we’re struggling to find a regular set of gigs. Also, more
recently songwriting has been difficult, mainly the lyrical side.. One of us
probably needs a heart broken or some bollocks.
Aside from your instruments, do any of the members take on any particular roles? Whether it be PR, making sure people arrive to practice on time or something as trivial as a joker or diva.
Well I organise practice and sort all the boring parts out, James sorts out the drinks at practice - to which Andrew has only recently started accepting, only water though. Guess that's a bit divaish?

If you could support any act live, who would you pick and why?
A choice of three.. The Libertines in 2004/2005, The Doors or Led Zepplin.

Which song do you wish you had written? An anthem you're truly envious of.
For me, it has to be 'Adolescent Sex' by Japan. James fancies 'Rap God' by Eminem, 'Karma Police' too though. But as a band we wished to have written either 'Juicebox' by The Strokes or 'Brianstorm' by Arctic Monkeys.
So you're playing the Nouveau gig on August 11th, can you tell us a little about this? Have you got anything special in store?
Honestly, nope. We’ve had little practice as we’ve all been away and since it’s such short notice we have no idea. Could be interesting..

Which local bands have caught your eye recently?
We’re quite into Nettles and enjoyed their and Blesh’s set at Nouveau a few weeks back. Also we’re really into Static Blue’s latest single.

Any final words? What's on the horizon for Trip Switch?
We’ve a couple of gigs lined up; one at The Telegraph on the 20th and another Nouveau gig on the 25th. Long term though, a new band name and Glastonbury.
