GLASS PEAKS - 'Speak and Spell' Track Review

The Kent based four-piece are rapidly becoming one of the most talked about bands in the South East, after their debut single 'Your Eyes' was awarded Track of the Week by BBC Introducing Kent, as well as selling out three London headline shows. The track opens with an upbeat guitar riff, before welcoming a punch ebullient percussion and front man Lewis' enigmatic vocals. Famous Last Words Presents - Shoot the Poet and Towzer

Beloved Teeside indie-rock group Shoot the Poet are set to play their final gig tonight at the Exchange House in Middlesbrough. Doors open at 11pm, with OTD tickets costing £4.50 before 11:30 and £6 afterwards. From playing Isle of Wight and Willowman Festival to supporting The Coronas  and The Subways , the five piece band have made their mark on the Hartlepool music scene. The band will be welcoming back former members Craig Gilbraith and Adam Morgan for the gig, celebrating their five years together on the North East scene. The main support for the night is Towzer, whose sound channels the grit of the early Arctic Monkeys combined with a chilled 60s-esque psychedelic undertone. Reading and Leeds Festival Announce Grossly Unbalanced Lineup

Photo by  Crack In The Road Yesterday music blog 'Crack In The Road' tweeted an image that revealed the profound gender imbalance in the Reading and Leeds Festival lineup. The image highlighted how the lineup featured 57 men and only one woman. Although the festival has faced criticism in the past for their male orientated lineups, they have made no effort to become a more inclusive festival. Promoter Melvin Benn stated in an interview with the  Guardian  that Reading and Leeds festival  "didn't have a problem". "We put on bands that people want to buy tickets to watch - so it's the public that makes the decision about what bands play at festivals. "We're not the taste-makers. Putting a festival is a monstrous financial risk. The only way I balance the books is selling tickets. Why do you think we book the same male acts again and again? "Because they sell tickets.
