Tell us a little about
yourself and FLUXX Gigs.
I've been involved in the music business all my life really. My
parents were always in bands when I was growing up, so I guess it runs in the
family. I've been in bands myself from a young age, to the present day.
However, I started FLUXX because I realised that there are a lot of young and
upcoming bands in Newcastle and the north east who need somewhere to either
start out and get some gigs. I really want to
help bands progress and expand their fan base, as well as promote local talent!
Why FLUXX? Is there a
story behind the name?
There isn't really anything significant about "FLUXX". I really just needed to brand my nights so people knew who was putting on the gigs. I saw a back to the future meme which had the flux capacitor on it and I thought to myself, "hmmmm Flux". So it was more or less the first thing that came to my head. When I wrote it down it didn't look eye catching enough, so I added another X. It just seemed right I suppose. "FLUXX".

So in September you hosted your first
gig at Little Buildings with Static Castles, Nettles and Trip Switch. How was
that experience?
The debut FLUXX gig went down better than I ever thought it
would. We had a small hiccup with a band dropping out but that was easily sorted
as there are so many bands in the north east looking for their next show. I
also bought a new HK projector PA system which is an absolute beast and it
really added to the night. All of the bands that played could actually hear
themselves! And the audience seemed to love it too. I had some awesome feedback
at the end of the night and really appreciate the support of everyone who
attended and made it such a rowdy night to remember.
Your second gig is on
October 22nd. Have you got anything special in store?
Our second installment
of FLUXX fun will be a special one indeed! This is the first of our gigs to be
featured in the October edition of NE Volume magazine, which is a huge step in
the promotion of FLUXX gigs and the bands that are playing too. It is also the first
headline gig for Nettles who thoroughly deserve that spot. We just want to
reach out to a bigger audience for the sake of the bands and the future of
FLUXX.
Any final words?
What's on the horizon for you and FLUXX gigs?
I would just like to once again thank
everybody for their support over the past few months and I would also like to
reach out to any musicians that are reading this.
If you are looking for more publicity and gigs, get in touch via our Facebook page- Facebook.com/fluxxgigs and we'll be sure to help you out in the best way possible. Like I said earlier we're here to promote local and upcoming bands and gain a bigger fan base for them! We are looking to eventually expand to bigger venues and get local bands supporting more known acts. So the more support we get the more support the local music scene gets!
