The Froot - Midnight Girl Track Review

'Midnight Girl' is the latest single from Hull based psyche rock group The Froot (previously known as 'The Froot '67 '). The track opens with a distorted guitar riff and a rattling tambourine, before welcoming  punchy drums and hazy, lilting vocals - submerging the listener in an ethereal yet upbeat sound. One of the best aspects of the track is how effective the simple 60s rock inspired riffs and harmonies blend together, producing an authentic, definitive sound. Modern psyche groups sometimes try too hard to be different or to fulfill the tropes of the genre, which often translates as a little pretentious.  However The Froot have grounded the track with gritty, yet uber catchy riffs and a no frills chorus of: "I wanna see you in the dusk, my midnight girl". The simple chorus allows a first time listener to sing and dance along, cementing the track as an effervescent addition to their live set. It's a solid rock track that showcases an appa
