Savannah Betts - Warning E.P. Review

'Warning' is the latest four track E.P. by Newcastle based singer-songwriter Savannah Betts. The album was produced by SoShe's Jamie Johnson and it's a beautiful marriage of two very talented musicians.  The gorgeously subtle electronic music perfectly complements Betts' powerful vocals, enabling her to showcase her range and technical skill through a series of stunning ballads.
The E.P. opens with the title track; 'Warning'; is a catchy yet gloriously moody ballad that radiates a tranquil vibe and envelopes the listener in Betts' bewitching vocals. This style is mirrored in the third  track; 'Everything  For You'; a charming, sentimental love song.
The following track 'Help' is the strongest on the E.P., as it highlights Bett's extraordinary vocal range, leaving you breathless with the power behind it. The guitar solo featured is also beautiful and goes onto facilitate her vocals, creating an engaging harmony.

The final track 'Fade' is a more upbeat track, fuelled by peppy ukulele and happy-go-lucky vocals. However it doesn't quite fit with the rest of the very serious E.P. There's nothing wrong with the track itself, it just doesn't wow me as much as the other three do.
Despite this, it is an outstanding E.P.  The sombre tone it resonates does require your full attention as it is far from an easy listen - but it is so worth actually sitting down and listening to it properly.

The E.P. is set to be released on Saturday 1st October, with a celebratory launch gig at Nemix Studios in Newcastle

Track of the Week - Sarajevo - The K's

Merseyside natives The K's kicked off 2018 by announcing that they had been signed to Republic Music Management. With a handful of sold-out headline shows already under their belt, their tongue-and-cheek indie tunes are earning them a loyal fan base and plenty of buzz. Their debut single 'Sarajevo' is an infectiously catchy and utterly charming track. The vocals are akin to a more in-tune Jamie T, giving their witty lyrics a warm ambiance.  The upbeat melody gives a nod to early 2000s indie, but the ferocious riffs and hearty bass lines give it plenty of originality.  The track has already achieved half a million streams on Spotify and it's a sure bet that there's bigger and better things on the horizon for The K's. Red Rum Club with Support From Tiger Twins, Paradas and Turnstones

Last night Liverpudlian six-piece Red Rum Club enthralled a lively crowd at Leeds' Lending Room. Kicking the night off was Leeds based four-piece Turnstones . Unfortunately, the majority of their set was timid and unimpressive. Their songs were pleasant enough, just very safe sounding, and they looked painfully awkward on stage. However the last two tracks of their set were fantastic -they skyrocketed from blasé to ballsy. They engaged more with the audience and came out of their shells - it was like watching a completely different band. They need to scrap the first section of their set and focus on creating songs like the last two. Up next was local group Paradas . Their front man had a dreamy rock tone, akin to Kings of Leon's Caleb Followill, with an admirable vocal range. His lilting vocals complimented the gritty classic rock inspired riffs, giving their sound a rich depth. Occasionally their riffs were a bit repetitive, so it'd be interesting to see some ...
